Executive functions are some of the last parts of our brain to develop, because they happen in our prefrontal cortex which doesn't fully develop until between 23-25 in typically developing brains. Executive functions are a group of processes that allow us to do things such as planning, organizing, time management, flexible thinking, attention, working memory, task initiation and interruption, impulse control and more! These are all incredibly important skills to have as an adult! Luckily, these are skills that can be learned even if they don't develop in a typical way.
Many people struggle with executive functioning for a number of reasons. Some people have general executive dysfunction because of other things such as ADHD, trauma (especially childhood trauma) or autism. Other folks may experience periods of executive dysfunction because they are experiencing significant stress or a period of depression.
As stated above, many people experience executive dysfunction for a number of reasons. This group is designed for people who struggle with executive function more generally, rather than periodically. If things such as time management, attention, and organization have been life long struggles for you, then this group is designed for you!
